BRING YOUR CARIBBEAN CULINARY MAGIC TO LIFE
Seeking inspired and talented yacht charter chefs to bring their personal flair and style to the 13th annual culinary cooking challenge and upstage the competition! This year, 2012 the focus will be a 50th Anniversary Caribbean Celebration Banquet. An extravaganza you will proudly present and serve to your guests.
This year’s competition will be held onboard your yacht, the choice is yours on where you serve this BANQUET, showcasing any area of the yacht that you wish.
Registration opens at 9am Eastern Caribbean Time on the 1st November 2012, register online through the website under Registration. Register early as only the first 10 registrants in each of the three categories will gain entry.
- Category 1: Chefs from Yachts 160 feet and over judging on Monday 5th December
- Category 2: Chefs from Yachts 100 to 159 feet judging on Tuesday 6th December
- Category 3: Chefs from Yachts 99ft and under, judging on Wednesday 7th December
A winning Chef and runner up will be chosen for each category. The prize giving will be held on Thursday 6th December from 5:30pm to 7pm at The Admirals Inn in Nelson's Dockyard
Optional: The Carib Bean Coffee Roasters prize will be awarded for the most innovative use of Carib Bean Coffee
CHEF'S CULINARY CHALLENGE & STEWARD/STEWARDESSES TABLE SETTING CHALLENGE
So how’s it going to work?
You must:
- Register online using our easy entry form. Registration opens on the 1st November 2012 at 9am Eastern Caribbean Time (GMT- 4)
- Read the information on the website and confirm by email that you understand the new format of the competition. email: acym@candw.ag
- Attend the compulsory Chefs/Steward/Stewardess briefing held on Sunday 2nd December at 3.30pm, location Copper & Lumber Store Hotel. Same location as the Captains Briefing. On your yacht prepare a Caribbean Celebration Banquet for the Antigua Charter Yacht Show's 50th Anniversary along with an alcoholic or non alcoholic beverage.
- Present your Banquet and your Anniversary table decoration incorporating the number 50 in your chosen area for Judging at the allotted time and date given to you at the Chefs Briefing.
LOGISTICS FOR THE CHEF'S
- You will have an opportunity to show your talents in many areas preparing a Banquet. You can make diverse dishes using your creativity. The banquet may be served in the location of your choice, aft deck, sun deck, saloon, dining saloon, buffet style or plated.
- There should be enough food to serve six people, which includes one of each dish to be photographed and six glasses of your beverage, five of which the judges will taste and one of which will be photographed.
- You must provide 6 copies of your menu, which can be printed or hand written, one for the Table and 5 for the judges.
- You may, but don’t have to, enter the Carib Bean Coffee section. If you choose to do this coffee will be provided. The Carib Bean Coffee Roasters Prize is awarded for the most innovative use of coffee, which may be used in any of your dishes or you may create a separate dish.
- You must do all the onboard cooking yourself. Your helper may assist you in plating and serving.
STEWARD AND STEWARDESS TABLE DISPLAY
Prepare the table setting to complement a Caribbean Celebration Banquet for the Antigua Yacht Show's 50th Anniversary.
- The number 50 must be visible on the Table.
- Your table setting must be ready for Judging at the allotted time and date given to you at the compulsory meeting.
- Your table will be judged for the Piper Heidsieck Champagne table setting challenge, based on its style, flair and suitability to the 50th Anniversary Caribbean Celebration Banquet theme.
What Criteria are we using to judge the winners of the
CARIBBEAN CELEBRATION BANQUET FOR THE ANTIGUA CHARTER YACHT SHOW'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY
We will be assessing the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Presentation
- Taste
- Overall impression
- Use of Caribbean local ingredients
- Your knowledge of food handling
- A table setting befitting a Caribbean Celebration Banquet for a 50th Anniversary
