The Festival will take place on Sunday 7th December, from 6pm - 8pm at Nelson’s Dockyard. As well as providing filmmakers with a great platform to showcase their work, the Festival is also raising money for YachtAid Global, a charity that provides humanitarian aid, disaster relief and conservation to coastal communities around the world.

This year’s Adrift Film Festival features two categories:

The Newcomer
The yachting world is a collection of breathtaking memories for those who spend their lives at sea. The Newcomer prize will be awarded to the ultimate overall industry highlight reel. The Yachts, the Toys, the Sunsets, the Parties, the Ultimate Heights, the Deep Dives, the Destinations. Films must be between 2 and 4 minutes long, no AI permitted.

Charter Life
This category involves the entire crew, giving them 72 hours while crossing the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean en route to the Antigua Charter Yacht Show. The requirement was to create a 4-6 minute movie, choosing from a selection of genres, with a challenge of incorporating a specific marine product into the plot. AI permitted.

People’s Choice Award
There will also be the “People’s Choice Award”, which will be presented to the audience's favourite video from either category.

The panel of judges selected five finalists for each category, which will be shown live at the Festival. The winner of each category, and the People’s Choice winner, will be announced after the showings.

The prize for the Newcomer category is a DJI Mini Pro 5, the prize for the Charter Life category is an 8-person wilderness experience trip in the Pacific Northwest, and the prize for the People’s Choice Award is a pair of DiveR Carbon Fibre Cephalapod Free Diving Fins designed by artist Naomi Gittoes.

This year’s judging panel is made up of Executive Director Steve Jackman, Director Alexander Haubrich, Founder and Guest Judge Shelton Dupreez and Guest Judge Tom Van Oossanen.
