Offsetting 52 tonnes of Greenhouse Gas Emissions for ACYM 2023

Yacht Carbon Offset has been a proud supporter of the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting (ACYM) since 2009. As for every ACYM show, we are taking action to counterbalance the carbon footprint of ACYM 2023 by offsetting an allocation of the show’s fuel and power consumption.

This year, we are extending our service to include an offset allowance for each of the yachts exhibiting at the show. The allowance varies between 0.5 to 1.0 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per yacht (measured in the unit of CO2e), depending on the size and nature of the vessel.

The number of yachts attending ACYM 2023 is increasing by the day. At the current yacht participation level, as of 10 Oct. 2023, our carbon offset contribution is 52 tonnes CO2e.

Supporting the Larimar Wind Power Project, Dominican Republic

To complete the carbon offset transaction, we are supporting the 98MW Larimar Wind Power project in the Dominican Republic. Located on the southern coast of this Caribbean Island, the project generates electricity from 29 wind turbines and delivers the power to the country’s National Interconnected Electrical System. ACYM 2023’s carbon offset contribution to this project supports the power plant’s operations for 2-hours.

The project’s carbon credits are verified under the Verified Carbon Standard by the approved third-party auditor, Colombian Institute for Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC).
